Get Well Soon

Happy Tuesday!

I hope none of you need this get well card!  But when I bought this Kim Hughes die from Simon Says Stamp, I knew I needed some of these cards in my stash.

I had colored the Lori Boyd image quite a while back and waited for the perfect card and this one proved to be it!  The heart was just the right size for my SOON stamp! Lori is a sweet friend and awesome designer.  I hope you will visit her site.  Click right here to take a look. Her images are really fun to color and are all super cute!

So stay well and I'll see you right back here tomorrow.

#Happy Birthday

Happy Monday!

I hope you had a wonderful weekend filled with family, fun and maybe some card making too.

Earlier this month I purchased this gift die from Simon Says Stamp and just now found time to use it.  It is actually for a horizontal card, so it is larger, but I trimmed off a few packages.  I can't wait to use it again with silver foil paper.  Then I will fill the spaces with some lovely Christmas paper.  FUN!!!!!

Can you also spot the die from Pretty Pink Posh?  Yes - it's that stitched border.  I cut it twice and layered it.  It's a keeper too!  I love all the fun elements on this card and I hope you do too.

See you tomorrow to finish out the month with another new card!!

Digital Saturday - 2014 Project Life

Happy Saturday!

Here we are at week two in my new series of digital Saturday layouts.

This is the very first page of my 2014 Project Life.  I do a two page spread for each week.  Even just nine months later, looking at this page helps me remember things easily forgotten.  That little picture of Andrew before he could walk...well, it just melts my heart...especially since he rarely walks now at all.  He is always running!

As I type, I am a bit behind in my album for 2014, but seeing this page reignites my desire to keep going.

So have a wonderful Saturday and I'll see you tomorrow!

Creating Art

Happy Friday!

I love Fridays because it is the day that new Jenni Bowlin product is released at Snap Click Supply!

This is the sister website to Jessica Sprague where so many beautiful products are for sale.  If you haven't seen the site yet, be sure to take a look today.  It is worth the trip!

I used the brand new Jenni Bowlin's Autumn Crisp patterned papers and card stock kits for my layout.   I just LOVE LOVE LOVE filling in templates with different papers and these two kits were perfect for this layout.  I will probably do a second page to capture all of the artwork Caleb made during our weekend together.  I get so excited to see his creations!

New releases are always 20% off during their debut weekend, so be sure to hop on over to Snap Click Supply and take a look!

See you tomorrow.

Sending Sunshine - PaperTrey Ink Blog Hop

Hello Thursday Friends!

Thank you for coming by today for the PaperTrey Ink blog hop.  I would love it if you joined my blog while you are here.  I promise you will see a new creative project each day!

This month's PTI challenge is based on a photo posted on the blog as well as some sketches.  I chose one of the sketches and I've shown it below.  My card is rather loosely based on this sketch, but I hope it still qualifies.. .

Don't forget, you can play along too.  Just create your project and link it up right here.

See you tomorrow!

Keep Calm and Call Me!

Happy Wednesday!

The Color Throwdown challenge for the week is here.  This week's color palette is one I wouldn't have thought to use.  But now that I've used it....I sorta love it!

So here are this week's colors. I actually wish I had those curtains somewhere in my house.  They are so fresh and lovely.

Everything on this card was made using products from My Favorite Things.  They had a sale earlier this month and I bought a few stamps and dies I had been thinking about purchasing for a while.

I hope you will play along.  This is the very first day....so you have plenty of time to make something wonderful.  And remember, you don't have to have the exact colors.  Just use the closest match you have.  Join in the fun!!

See you tomorrow!!

Happy Bird-Day

Hello Tuesday Friends!

I hope you are having a great week so far.

My love for shaker cards continues...as you can see.  I friend of mine wanted a refresher course on making shaker cards, so we both did a card just like this together.  And I must say she has made sooooo many shaker cards since.  So I guess my little refresher helped her.

The papers are all from Authentique and that wonderful flamingo is from Reverse Confetti.  Of course the sequins are from Pretty Pink Posh.  All of these companies are super high on my list of current favorites.

So have a great day and I'll be back tomorrow with something fun.

Bee Happy

Happy Monday!

I hope everyone had a wonderful weekend.  We spent time with family and that was a treat for us.  It's fun to hear some old stories and also see how siblings interact as grownups!

I am still madly in love with all things Pretty Pink Posh.  I've used one of their dies as well as some of their super tiny sequins to make my shaker card.

I'm not sure where I found the sentiment, but I do know that I used my Silhouette to cut out that bee.  I had some bee stamps, but I didn't want to take the time to cut around all the intricate areas.  Silhouette to the rescue!!

So have a great day and BEE HAPPY!

Digital Saturday - Magical Parade

Happy Saturday!

I had an idea for all of my future Saturday posts: I thought it would be fun to share some of my digital scrapbook pages with you.  So today starts a series of Digital Saturday posts.  I hope you will enjoy them each week.

Here is a two page layout from our trip to Disney this past January.  I completed an entire Disney book for my grandsons. I loved making it as much as I loved being there with them.  I print my books with Shutterfly.  I've used them for many years and am still pleased with their photo books.  I can recommend them to you for sure.

So have a wonderful Saturday and I'll see you tomorrow.

You are my Happy

Happy Friday!

I really had fun with this card.  The "YOU ARE MY..." is a die from PaperTrey Ink.  The "HAPPY" is a die from Teresa Collins.  They were both on my desk and I thought it would be fun to use them together.  A little bit of surgery later....and it looks like one happy die cut.

Do you like to use your products in a unique way?  Sometimes I can make it happen with a little luck and I think that's what happened here!

Have a great day and I'll see you tomorrow.

Hello - Love You

  Happy Thursday!

It's time for another challenge - actually two different ones. The first is The Cutting Edge Challenge #10.  Today I was inspired by the fall colors (with just a little bit of blue) in the inspiration photo.
Here is the inspiration photo for #10:

The second challenge I am entering today is from the Moxie Fab World's Those Foxy Foxes Challenge.  There are so many foxes in the card making world these days and I didn't want to be left out...so I created a little fox card myself.

I hope you have a great day and I'll see you right back here tomorrow.

Happy Wednesday!

The Color Throwdown challenge for the week is here.  I had so much fun using this week's color palette to make a tag for a baby gift.

So here are this week's colors.  They are just perfect baby colors!

I colored my image using Copic markers - my favorite!  Then I just started playing with papers until I found the right combination for my tag. I used the tag die from Pretty Pink Posh which is also one of my favorites.

Remember, you don't have to have the exact colors.  They want you to use the closest match you have.  So join in the fun!!

See you tomorrow!!

LOVE You

Happy Tuesday!

I am continuing on my mission to use up scrapbook supplies that I've had for a while. And that is how this card was born.

Everything except the die cut YOU had been hanging around my desk for a while.  It was time to turn it all into a card!

I could use wood grain patterned paper on every card....but then it wouldn't be special. However, I knew I needed it for this card.  The red and blue combination just really works with the wood grain paper..

I don't think you can see it in the photo, but I covered the round element with clear Wink of Stella and then two coats of Glossy Accents.  It made it a bit more fun than just a chipboard sticker.  Don't you think?

Have a wonderful day and I'll see you tomorrow.

Life is a Picnic - Do Over Time

Happy Monday!

Did you ever make a card and you liked it, but you just weren't sure if you LOVED it?  Yes?  Me too.  Yesterday.

I used all of the stamped elements shown here on yesterday's card and while it was ok, it just didn't seem bright and cheerful enough.

So standing at my work table staring at the card, I made a new plan for those elements.

Once I figured out the card needed a brighter background, everything came together.  I did add a small frame to anchor some of the little stamped and die cut pieces and it seemed to work.

So now I am happy with my card.  It doesn't happen often that I remake a card...but sometimes ya just gotta go with what ya feel!

See you tomorrow!

We are sponsored this week by Core'dinations. This paper has been around for a while now and has always been a crowd pleaser!  I love the way you can sand it and the color below comes through.  Be sure to take a look at their site!  You will be so inspired by what you find there.

If Friends Were Flowers....

Hello Saturday Friends!

Today's card is super simple...but I still love the way it came together.

I made my background and my frame with some of my MFT Stamps dies.  I usually like a patterned background, but I opted for some simple stripes this time.

The stamp set is from Clearly Besotted and is called Pretty Petals.  I've used it a few times before and I love it each time I stamp with it.

So that's it for today's card.  I hope you are having a wonderful weekend - full of laughter, love and creativity.

See you tomorrow!

I Love You

Happy Friday!

I'm still in love with shaker cards.  I was wondering if I could use my MFT Stamps Lightbulb Die to make a shaker and the answer is YES!

I was so excited because it all came together so quickly..maybe even on my first attempt!  I used some silver metallic paper to make the bottom part of my lightbulb and that just made it perfect!

I used some gold papers to accentuate the idea of light and I love the way the card turned out.

OK - off to make more shaker cards!

See you tomorrow.

Happy Birthday

Happy Thursday!

I am getting in right at the end of The Cutting Edge Challenge #9.  I just love this site and hopefully can play along each time they have a challenge which is every two weeks.

Here is the inspiration photo for #9:

I was inspired by the images in opposing corners and the sentiment in the middle.  I used a new Simon Says Stamp die to achieve this look.  I cut it out from the white card base and then again from three colors.  I inlaid all the red, blue and yellow dots and then added a few on top as well as some gems.  This was really fun to create!  I added the die cut sentiment from Little B and decided it was finished.  Sometimes it's hard to know when to stop!

I hope you will take a look at the site and maybe next week you will
play along too. It's the place to be!

See you tomorrow!

Happy Wednesday!

The Color Throwdown challenge for the week is here.  I get so excited when I see the color palette sneak peek on Facebook every Tuesday!

So here are this week's colors.  They are not something I would have thought to use together, but I love the results.

Just yesterday I received the THANKS die in my mailbox and knew I wanted to use it right away.  So it was the beginning of my card making process.  The flowers are made using a stamp and die set from MFT Stamps.  I think it is retired now...but I still use it and love it!

Remember, you don't have to have the exact colors.  They want you to use the closest match you have.  So join in the fun!!

Thinking of You

Happy Tuesday!

Today's card is brought to you via my Silhouette Cameo.  I've been wanting to use this cut out heart design for a while.

I was cutting out some other things when I remembered this file, so I just cut it out toward the bottom of my paper and voila! I had a small card front.

I cut out the white using a die and then used the same die in the center of my stitched rectangle die cut aqua piece.  I placed a small piece of the aqua paper behind the heart and then used foam tape to pop up my card front onto a white base.  The aqua showed through perfectly and the card has nice dimension.

I heat embossed my sentiment using Liquid Platinum embossing powder and added a few gems.

I love the simplicity of this card.  It would be really easy to mass produce as a gift set for someone!

See you tomorrow!

Happy Birthday & a Creative Blog Hop

Happy Monday!

Today's post is just a bit different.  As always I have a card for you - this one is a simple Washi tape card.  Five minutes - I promise!

But also, I was invited to join in a creative blog hop by answering a few questions and then tagging another craft blogger and friend to play along next week. So here goes:

What am I working on now?  As always, I am working on more and more cards for my website/blog.  I love making them and always hope I inspire others to make some cards to share with their friends.  I am also crocheting scarves.  I taught myself to knit and crochet at the beginning of this year and I love it.  Finally, I am doing a version of Project Life.  I make a digital two page spread for each week as it passes.  I am actually a bit behind, but I can catch up because I do keep up with what pictures I want for each week.  The rest is just creating the layout. I completed one year already and thoroughly enjoy looking through that book.  It keeps me inspired to continue.

How does my work differ from others in my genre?   I am not sure that my work differs too much for others because I LOVE trends.  I am always inspired by others and by whatever new floats by me.  I do think I have a "style", though.  I would like to think you would know my work if you saw it.

Why do I create what I do?  I have always been a person who loves crafts.  Over the years it has taken different forms - sewing, cross stitch, ceramics, jewelry making, needlepoint.  But I believe scrapbooking  and card making really do fill a need I have to document our lives and to give to others.  No matter what creative road I am on, my need to express myself in art is always important to me.

How does my creative process work?
My mind NEVER stops thinking about things to create.  I see color and pattern and possibility in everything.  I don't know how to explain how my brain works, but I know it never gives my artistic side a rest.  As far as hands on creating, I can't stand to be messy and have to clean up after every completed project.  Sometimes I look at my space after making a card and wonder what happened?  SOOOO much mess!  But I clean it up and start a new creation asap.  I try to leave out a few leftovers on my desk to include in another project.  Sometimes it works, and sometimes not.  But I try!

Now I want to introduce you to another creative friend of mine.  Her name is Annette Witherspoon and she is so completely amazing!  She is going to answer these same questions next Monday on her blog, A Spoon Full of Sugar.  Be sure to take a look and then bookmark her site to you can check it out again next Monday.

My name is Annette Witherspoon. I’ve been married to my husband John for 11 years and I am a mommy to two precious kids who keep me on my toes. Before joining mommy world, I was a public relations professional for 10 years.

I am primarily a card maker who occasionally makes other paper crafting projects.  I started dabbling in paper crafts a several years ago - shortly after receiving a handmade wedding card. I fell in love with the idea of creating one-of-a-kind cards made straight from the heart. Four years ago, I ramped up my crafting endeavors when I started my blog, A Spoon Full of Sugar, which is a play on my real name. A is the first letter of my first name, and Spoon is the last half of my last name. I design for Paper Sweeties Stamps and Eyelet Outlet, which sells eyelets, brads, ribbon,Washi tape and other accessories. Prior design experience includes Sweet Stamp Shop, Pink by Design Stamps, Frosted Designs Challenge Blog, Joy’s Life Stamps, and Stampendous. My work has been published in Paper Crafts and Scrapbooking, and ScrapStreet magazines. I also wrote for ScrapStreet Magazine, an online scrapbooking and paper crafting magazine.

So there you are - a little bit about my creative process and a sneak peek into what you will find at Annette's blog next Monday.

See you tomorrow!

Hey Friend

Happy Saturday!

I am off to church with two of my daughters in law this morning.  Our pastor's wife is leading a ladies' event and we are all so excited to be attending!

I am still using up some of my older supplies (and always adding in something new too) and that's how this card was born.

I am at the end of my nautical paper now which makes me sad...but I paired it with this fun die cut from Pretty Pink Posh and some little pinwheel stickers I had been hording.

I just love the way it came together!

See you tomorrow.

You're So Very Sweet

Happy Friday!

Have you noticed that gold is in vogue right now?  I knew as soon as I saw the trend I would love it.  I am sure it won't last too long...but while it's here, I am going to create using lots of gold.

My stamped and die cut cherries are from Clearly Besotted.  I noticed Simon Says Stamp has a new exclusive set with fruit too.  Be sure to check out both.  Since I already had this set, I had to fight diligently NOT to buy the SSS set too.  It was hard, but I didn't buy it.

I am entering my card in the SSS Wednesday challenge this week.  You should play along too.  Just follow the link.

See you tomorrow!

Love You More

Hello Thursday Friends!

My card today is a mix of old and new.  I've been on a mission to use up some of my older papers and embellishments - but it's only fun if I can add in something new.

The new is that diecut butterfly from Simon Says Stamp.  Everything else is from an older paper pad, an old sentiment sticker or plucked from my random embellishment box.

I managed to use up quite a bit on this one card.  So I'll say mission accomplished on this one!

See you tomorrow!

Happy Thoughts

Happy Wednesday!

The Color Throwdown challenge for the week is here.  I think it is my favorite challenge on the web.  And I love that they give us a sneak peek of the new colors on Tuesday

So here are this week's colors.  I knew EXACTLY what I would be doing with these colors!  My pink actually turned out a bit dark...but I still love it.

Everything on my card is cut from my Silhouette Cameo except the yellow dotted paper and the leaves.  I cut it all in white and then used Copic Markers to color the flowers before I overlayed the scribble pieces. I had been wanting to use the scribble flowers cut file since I first saw it and today was the day!!  I added the little stamped envelope right at the end.  I like the way it coordinates with the flowers and the sentiment.

Remember, you don't have to have the exact colors.  They want you to use the closest match you have.  So join in the fun!!

See you tomorrow!!

Happy Birthday

Happy Tuesday!

I've got a quick and easy inlaid sentiment card to share with you today.

I've found inlaying diecuts is just the most wonderful way to have a non dimensional card, but still have it pack a punch and leave the recipient wondering how I did it.

Of course it is easy.  Just cut the die twice - once from the card front and then again from a coordinating paper.  Then just apply tape to the back of the card front and stick the sentiment in place.  It just couldn't be easier!

Have a great day and I'll see you tomorrow!

Floral Canvas

Hello Monday Friends!

Today's project is actually one that I started back in May.  I was lucky enough to go to the My Favorite Things Annual Retreat in Florida and this project (sort of) was one of our classes.

My original project got a little bit smooshed in my suitcase, so I decided to take off everything and keep the background canvas.  Barbara Anders taught this class and I'll just say this one thing.  The canvas alone without any embellishments on it is pretty enough to display.  She is a remarkable designer and super sweet person.

I kept this project on the back burner while I collected some cream colored flowers and embellishments along with some metal and wooden pieces from my stash.  I also wanted a touch of red on it because there was some light red stenciling on the canvas.  Once I was satisfied with what I had, I just started arranging and hot gluing. And I just love the final design.

I like the fact that I was able to take my project a step further instead of giving up on it when it got smooshed,  I have it displayed in my dining room and it makes me smile EVERY time I look at it.

'til tomorrow!

Susie
